One of the earliest quotes I read that left an impression on me, was one about nobody coming to rescue us, because we are our saviors. I am not just interested in change, but sustainable change, in building a world with systems where women, especially queer women, can be seen, be heard, be seated in every room and at table they should be on. I am interested in proactive solutions, as well as responses to existing problems.
At 16, I was already training as a volunteer with CRS and by 24, I had transitioned into the human rights space, working on and for causes directly impacting me, a young woman living openly as an LGBTQI + person in Nigeria. I had internalized the need to start change by taking my own step to build with others already doing something to enable the change we deserve.

In 2017, I started working with Women Initiatives for Sustainable Empowerment and Equality, as the Advocacy and Communications Officer, where designed advocacy tools and managed communication pathways between WISE, communities and other organizations. I have taken up more roles within the community, across the continent.

My love for writing made storytelling my first activism tool. With it, I found my voice and a place to work for and with a universal community of women, expanding to accommodate all voices raised for our dignity.
We are here.
We are now.
We will be heard.
